
Athletic Director
Hesston College seeks a visionary and collaborative Athletic Director to lead Hesston College athletics as part of the college’s mission to nurture and educate each student in Christ-centered community. The athletic director will report to the president with a dotted line to the vice president of enrollment management. This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits eligible position, beginning spring 2026.
Position Summary
2025-26 is the first year of competition for Hesston College as a four-year school and member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Our next athletic director (AD) will lead all aspects of our intercollegiate athletic programs as we grow into our new four-year model. The AD will provide strategic leadership, coach mentorship, administrative oversight and operational management for all intercollegiate athletic programs at Hesston College. The AD must work closely with all parts of campus to foster a healthy culture where our student-athletes achieve success academically and athletically, and also grow holistically as individuals. The AD will support the strategic goals of the institution while ensuring the athletic program positively reflects the mission of Hesston College.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide overall direction and vision for Hesston College athletics while setting both short and long-term strategic goals.
- Recruit, mentor and supervise all coaching and other athletic staff.
- Collaborate with admissions and financial aid on student-athlete recruitment strategies.
- Build strong relationships with academic leadership to ensure student success is prioritized and retention strategies are working well.
- Lead departmental planning, budgeting, fundraising and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with NAIA, National Christian College Athletic Association, conference and institutional policies, regulations and procedures.
- Oversee athletic event management, game contracts, scheduling and facility coordination.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key external stakeholders in the community to promote the vision of Hesston College athletics.
- Serve as the primary department spokesperson for the athletic department.
- Work with advancement colleagues to raise funds in support of the athletic department.
- Foster a culture in the athletic department that promotes academic achievement, character development and spiritual growth among student-athletes.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to student athletes’ academic success and strong support for the strategic goals and mission of Hesston College.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required and master’s degree preferred.
- Five or more years of relevant athletic leadership and administrative experience.
- Strong commitment to student development and the mission of Hesston College.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability and desire to work collaboratively across campus.
